January Notes

We know many schools want to help recovery efforts in Haiti as a result of the tragic earthquake.  We are working to provide opportunities for students to help.  Click here to be directed to the Global Relief Resource Center and find out how to get involved.

Nearly 400 coaches attended Roundtable Professional Development sessions to learn the fundamentals of the Penny Harvest and ways to enhance student learning, service opportunities, community partnerships and whole-school involvement throughout this upcoming phase.

Secure your Roundtable funds by completing the Roundtable Activation Form.  The Roundtable process generally takes place from February – April when students research community issues and connect with organizations to make grants. During April - June, students expand their philanthropy by participating in service projects within and throughout the school community.   Visit the Make Grants section to get started.

December Notes

Penny Pick-up! Penny pick-up will take place in early December. For a smooth pickup, click here to download a sample receipt and view helpful tips.

Did your school sign-up for the Parent Harvest?  If you asked parents to help support the work of Common Cents by donating $1, you can fill in the total amount collected on the receipt and hand-in your collections to the driver on your pick-up date.  We greatly appreciate your support!

Finish Strong!

Use your pick-up date as motivation for your school to meet the 25 sack challenge.  Work with Student Leaders to recognize and thank all of those that have contributed to your school's Harvest.  Plan a Tally Rally to unite the entire school or give out certificates to the top harvesting students and classrooms. Visit the Finishing Strong section on the Curriculum Page for ideas.

Look ahead to Make Grants

If your school is unable to meet the 25 sack challenge, there's still an opportunity for students to participate in the Roundtable phase and allocate funds to various causes within the community.  Let your school support contact know that you want your students to be part of the Roundtable by calling 212-579-0579.

November Notes

Time to Weigh in!  Submit your Mid-Harvest Estimate by Friday, November 6th.  We can not schedule your penny pick-up date without an estimate of how many sacks you will have by the end of your harvest.
