2011 GLOBAL RELIEF: JAPAN RECOVERY

Participants at the 2011 Global Relief Conference

On March 11th, Japan was hit by a tragic earthquake and tsunami. Many families were left without shelter, food, water and are struggling to cope with the destruction. The Japan government is working on relief efforts to help connect families that were separated, rebuild buildings and streets. At the same time, other organizations are working to help people recover a sense of their normal lives, their culture and traditions – this is where you can help.

In the 2010-11 school year, students across NYC pledged a portion of their Penny Harvest funds to support people affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on March 11th. Use the resources below to learn about some of the needs of survivors in helping recovery efforts in the wake of the earthquake.  Think about how your roundtable can get involved and take action.
