Welcome to the 2010-11 Penny Harvest!

Important Information & Dates:

Penny Harvest Kits: Materials are being shipped within the next few weeks to all participating schools. Returning schools will not receive a new curriculum guide, so please hold on to yours from the previous year. If you need your kit earlier than mid-September, please contact me ASAP and I can make special arrangements. Once you receive your kits, please double check to make sure you have all the materials listed on the packing slip, and enough paper penny sacks and parents for all participating schools. Additional supplies will be available at the trainings in September.

Professional Development Trainings: We offer free trainings for new and returning coaches on two days—please pick ONE day to attend, the agenda is the same for both days. Breakfast and lunch are generously provided by our sponsors. Please RSVP for your preferred date by Friday, September 17th  to agerding@ypfoundation.org.

Friday, September 24th from 9am-2pm

Saturday, September 25th from 9am-2pm

Location for both days: Young Americans Center for Financial Literacy (3550 East First Avenue, Denver)

Penny Harvest Kick-Off: The official kick-off for the “harvesting” phase in Colorado is September 27th, but you may begin your harvest at any time within your individual school. Plan backwards from the Penny Pick-Up week (December 6th) to give your school adequate harvesting time. Hint: Most schools harvest for 8-10 weeks.

Penny Pick-Up Week: Each school will be assigned a pick up date and time during the week of December 6th-10th. Volunteers will arrive at your school to pick up all of your canvas sacks during that day. Please have them filled to the 30lb line, rubber-banded and in an accessible location (example: front office on first level).

Count-a-Thon Event: Each year we host a fun interactive coin processing event for Penny Harvest students to attend and help process the coins that have been collected.

Save the Date: Thursday, December 9th from 9-10:30am

Location: UMB Bank: 1635 E. Colfax Ave., Denver
